STATUSINCITY
The awarded societies shall be recognized as one of the premium society in the community and hence bringing pride to the residents and at the same time increasing the valuation of property in the locality.

The insurance companies will have more confidence in awarded societies as they meet all the safety, fire and other norms. Hence we can have a tie-up with them to reduce the premiums for the awarded societies which gives them the direct benefits.

The residents shall always feel stress free, healthy, enjoy sociability and secured when residing in the awarded societies and would not even mind any premium rates for the same for initiatives towards sustainability.

SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY
The societies that are really serious towards their contribution toward the environment shall have reduced electricity bills, reduced water consumption, reduced waste generation, reduced breakdown of the lifts and other infrastructure, etc. thus bringing down the cost of maintenance and cost of living for the residents. The societies focusing on solar and renewable energy may even earn by supplying the surplus power to external consumers, supplying manures to farmers at low cost as tangible benefits and other intangible benefits in terms of improved living environment to reduce their medical bills.

NEXT YEAR UPGRADATION OF HOUSING SOCIETY SUSTAINABILITY AWARD
The format of the award is set to get upgraded from the year 2020 with mobile app based online entries, which shall have data fields on monthly basis and no separate preparation or application filling every year. The app based approach to the award shall bring below advantages to societies who are keen on making their societies sustainable.

  • This shall be live app which shall be used by society / buildings to keep their track records so that they do not have to log their details every year for awards.
  • The societies can see the analytics of how societies in their own area are performing and improving in their locality, thus bringing competition among societies.
  • The societies shall receive monthly score cards based on the information that they have updated on the app thus there will be monthly leagues among them.
  • The societies shall be regularly updated on the legal updates of their states in case of any revisions taking places, hence keeping them updated on various local policies.
  • The societies shall receive monthly posters and articles on how to further improve their scores by taking innovative initiatives towards sustainability.
  • The societies shall receive quarterly newsletters and e-magazines with case studies of different society initiatives.
  • The societies shall have impact run competitions leagues through Impact startup thus taking steps towards improving health of each of the family members.
  • The societies shall have the legal compliance status on the app that they can use it for ensuring that they always remain complied all the times.
  • The societies can share photographs of their initiatives and best practices on the app that shall be shared with all the other societies.
  • Once it is used regularly by the societies, automatic awards scores shall be generated every year and societies shall be intimated with charts showing their continual growth.


City HS Panel

The winning housing societies have opportunity to have one member on ‘OHSSAI Housing Society Panel’ of your city who shall be contacted by other societies for helping them to improve.

National HS Panel

The winning housing societies have opportunity to have one member on ‘OHSSAI Housing Society Panel’ at national level and guide other city level panels for continual process in this project of OHSSAI.

Insurance Premium

The participating housing societies have opportunity to go for OHSSAI recommended insurance company who shall provide up to 90% rebate on fire related premium for their society, thus reducing cost to members.

Electricity Bills

The participating housing societies shall have opportunity to learn on ways of reducing the energy bills by switching towards renewable energy sources and use of certified fittings. Thus reducing the maintenance bill.

Water Conservation

Housing societies shall have opportunity to learn on ways of reducing, reusing and recycling water from practices adopted by other housing societies. Thus conserving water and also reducing the maintenance bill.

Waste Management

The participating housing societies shall have opportunity to learn on ways of reducing the solid waste generation and ways of reusing it or disposing it off in an environmental friendly manner.

Fire Safety

The participating housing societies shall have opportunity to learn on ways of reducing fire hazards and making society safe for living through audit process and through cross learning from other housing society.

Serviceability

The participating housing societies shall have opportunity to learn on ways of maintaining all the equipments in working conditions to avoid any breakdowns and related cost. Thus reducing the bills.

Sociability

The participating housing societies shall have opportunity to learn on ways of reducing the stresses and improving health of members by organizing various events and programs that brings community together.

Security

The participating housing societies shall have opportunity to learn on ways of reducing the security related incidents by using the latest technologies being used by other housing societies thus making it safe society.

Rules & Regulations

The participating housing societies shall have opportunity to remain updated on all the local, national and international laws pertaining to community and also an opportunity to contribute it through OHSSAI.

Sustainability

The participating housing societies shall have opportunity to learn on ways of becoming self reliant in all possible manner such that it reduces impacts on the environment and provides healthy env for members.

OBJECTIVES:
OHSSAI 4th ANNUAL HOUSING SOCIETY SAFETY & SUSTAINABILITY AWARD 2019 shall recognize innovation, achievement, commitment, to improving HSE performance and sustainability, within the participating housing societies.

Internationally and in India, housing societies have starting to think of health, safety, environment and sustainability as a core ingredient to managing housing societies, rather than a narrow issue about legal compliance. Hence OHSSAI Awards shall recognize the efforts for improving housing society management through Health & Safety, Environmental and Sustainability initiatives.

OHSSAI Fire Safe Housing Society Award shall recognize the best housing society for maintaining it "Surakshit" for their members. OHSSAI Secure Housing Society Award shall recognize the best housing society that is “Rakshapurn” for their members.

OHSSAI Serviceable Housing Society Award shall recognize the best housing society that is most energy efficient and uses renewable energy to reduce energy bills, making it "Upyojya".

OHSSAI Socialable Housing Society Award shall recognize the best housing society that has taken best initiative for social wellbeing and health wellbeing of the members making it "Samajik".

OHSSAI Sustainable Housing Society Award shall recognize the best society has taken best initiatives towards environment protection and waste reduction, making it "Satat".

OHSSAI Innovative Housing Society Award is for any extra ordinary initiative that becomes benchmark for others.
OHSSAI Social Safety Professional of Year Award is for safety professional who has made contribution to society along with his professional role.

MOTIVATIONAL FORMAT AWARD:
This award gives a weight-age to the society in their locality and market and also recognizes them as a Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability driven society. The surveillance audit for the first time introduced for awards further helps societies to continually improve and benchmark themselves in their city.


HOW TO ENTER:
All submissions must be made online at ohssai website only and no hard copies shall be entertained.

The society needs to submit all the forms to qualify for the awards.

In case any data is not available, society need to mention it as DNA - Data Not Available, instead of leaving it blank.

Attach the documents that support and justifies your answers.

Submit your entry to OHSSAI no later than closure of business hours on 30th June 2019.

Post submission deadline, no entries shall be eligible for evaluation'


ENTRIES & SCOPE:
Entry is open to all housing societies that are registered under societies act 'Cooperative Housing Society Act' of respective states and has validated Occupation Certificate from the respective local municipal corporation.

The initiatives submitted must have been in place during 2018 but may have been introduced prior to then.

Existing ideas/programs will only be eligible if they can be proven to have been significantly and innovatively adapted.

Award Rules & Regulations


Objective of the Awards:
The OHSSAI 4TH Annual Housing Society Safety and Sustainability Award 2019 shall recognize innovation, achievement, sustainability and commitment to improve performance in participating housing societies and honoring the top leaders behind them during the year 2018. These awards shall also facilitate the safety officers for their contribution towards community along with their roles in their respective companies.

Assessment Process:
The assessment criteria are objective, comprehensive and rigorous. The assessment process comprises of following stages;
Assessment of application based on scrutiny and eligibility criteria of award.
Application forwarded to Award Panel, for review at three stage process i.e. assessment of submission, onsite verification by site visits, as decided by the jury & final presentation in front of jury.
Compilation of Award Assessment and announcement of final awarding housing society in 5 Star rating format based on 5S excellence in societies.

Award categories and definitions:
The Award categories and the parameters for evaluation may be changed / modified / split / merged / increased or cancelled by the Awards Panel based on the number of entries received in any category, and the quality of the entries. The decision in this regard will be final and non-contestable. The Awards Committee shall not entertain any queries in this regard.

Entries & Participation:
The call for entries for the Awards may be announced in one or more ways, such as through e-magazine, direct contact with potential applicants, etc. and that shall be construed to be adequate notice for call for entries. The Awards Panel and / or Jury have the right to nominate any person/ organization in any Award category to build the quality of entries in that Award category. Applicant can apply in or be nominated in more than one Award categories subject to fulfillment of rules and regulations mentioned herein. An Applicant can submit more than one entry in an Award category if the entries are for different initiatives / persons / locations / products. A new application form must be submitted for each initiative / category, each plant, and each site. If separate application forms are received for the same housing societies, such entries will be treated as one entry. The Awards Panel has the right to reclassify application forms from one category to another, at its discretion.

Eligibility Criteria for participation in the Awards:
The participating housing society should have registered in India. The initiative should have been implemented in the period 1-Jan-2018 to 31- Dec-2018. NOTE - The Award Panel may modify the eligibility criteria from time to time with retrospective effect. The Award Panel holds the right to disqualify any application which does not meet the eligibility criteria without assigning any reason whatsoever.

Receipt of entries:
Participation in the Awards in any manner will be construed as an acceptance to the Rules and Regulations stated herein.

Award application has to be submitted online from OHSSAI website and all form 1 to form 5 are mandatory for submission. Receipt of application forms after last date of receipt specified may be permitted only at the discretion of the Awards Panel. Awards Management may not consider / be responsible for application forms that are in incorrect format / without declaration / received late / corrupt etc.

Send only one hard copy of the completed application along with attachments via courier to: #1505, Woodbine, Everest World, Kolshet Road, Thane(W) - 400607, India. The completed form must reach us by 30th April 2019.

Receipt of application forms after last date of receipt specified may be permitted only at the discretion of the Awards Panel. Awards Management may not consider / be responsible for application forms that are in incorrect format / without declaration / received late / corrupt etc.

Screening of received application forms:
OHSSAI shall appoint experienced personnel to screen application forms to ensure adherence to the eligibility criteria and rule and regulations. Entry forms must be filled in English only. The declaration at the end of the application form must be signed by the society chairman/secretary/treasurer of the participating housing society. Application Forms that are received incomplete in any manner may be disqualified by the Awards Panel. Applications may be disqualified if they do not follow any of the rules & regulations stated here-in. Disqualification of entries received is at the sole discretion of Awards Panel, on a case by case basis.

Application Information:
If at any time, any information provided by any Applicant is found to be incorrect in any manner, then the Applicant shall not be permitted to continue participation in the Awards. If after the conclusion of the Award ceremony, any information provided by an Applicant is found to be incorrect in any manner, then the applicant shall be liable to return the trophy / certificate provided to the Applicant under this Award, if any. Determination of whether information is incorrect or not rests with Awards Panel through three stage evaluation. The Awards Panel has the right to ask for proof of information provided / audit the information provided in the Application Form, visit the premises to conform it, at the cost of the housing society. If such a request is made and the Applicant does not comply, the Applicant could be disqualified from participation at the Awards.

Short-listing upto 5 applications in each award category:
Application Forms received shall be collated under each award category for evaluation by Awards Panel. Determination of the Award category to which an application belongs is at the discretion of Awards Panel. Awards Panel reserves the right to make the final judgment in case of any ambiguity in Rules and Regulations / disputes over suitability. The Initial Jury shall select up to 5 Nominees per Award category based on pre-defined evaluation parameters who shall qualify for the final round. In the event no Application Forms in a category are found to be worthy of inclusion in the Awards, the Award category may be cancelled. The decision of the above short-listing is binding and final on all Applicants.

Verification of the information provided in the Application Form:
The Awards Panel shall contact the Applicant, if required, for any clarifications needed regarding the information provided in the Application Form and to conduct a physical verification of their premises (for shortlisted applicants only). The Awards Panel shall appoint qualified personnel to visit the shortlisted applicants’ premises to verify the information and claims provided in the application form. The Awards Panel shall make the best efforts possible to contact the Applicants, but shall not be responsible if the person does not participate in or does not agree to the conduct of the verification, or are not contactable. In the event that it is not possible to conduct a verification of the Applicant for any reason beyond its control, Awards Panel may, at its discretion, disqualify the Applicant or continue in such other manner as deemed fit.

Determination of Winners:
The Final Jury of Award Panel shall score / rank the Nominees based on the Application Form submitted by them, the site visit and a presentation made by the Nominee in person. There could be one or more Winners in each Award category, at the discretion of the Final Jury. The determination of who should receive an award for any Award category rests with the Final Jury. The Jury's decision is final and binding on all Nominees. The Jury may also decide, in order to maintain high standards of these awards, that there could be no Winner in a particular category. Also OHSSAI shall verify the standard being maintained twice in a year by conducting surveillance audit to ensure that award is given to the deserving applicant. The first visit will be during award evaluation and second visit may be random at the short notice, post receipt of award. The applicant by applying gives consent for such two visits, at his own cost.

General:
Applicants understand and agree that merely by applying for these Awards does not entitle the Applicant to an award or to any other form of consideration. Participation in the Awards will be construed as an acceptance of the Rules and Regulations stated herein. Decision of Awards Panel on all matters is final and binding on all Applicants and Nominees and no correspondence shall be entertained on the same. Nominees and Winners permit free of cost the use of their name and factual information about their application and entry(s) in the public media (for the build-up to the Awards, during the Awards ceremony, etc) and do not have any right to any revenues earned through intellectual property rights generated by the Awards, if any. Applicants, Nominees & Winners permit OHSSAI to use the information provided by them in the application form(s) (including information about the ideas or initiatives) free of cost and without any right to any revenues earned through intellectual property rights generated by publishing of the information. Awards Panel shall not be liable for any claims / disputes made by the Applicant or Nominee in relation to the Awards. The Awards Panel cannot and shall not be accountable / liable for any disruptions / stoppages / interruptions or cancellation of the Awards. The Awards Panel and its contractors cannot be held responsible for matters out of its control and for force majeure reasons. Additions, deletions and / or modifications to these Rules and Regulations are at the discretion of the Awards Panel and the Awards Panel may make such additions / deletions and / or modifications, at any time. All disputes relating to or arising out of the Awards shall be subject to the laws of India, and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of competent jurisdiction at Mumbai, India. The Applicants and Nominees agree that they shall hold harmless the Awards Panel, its employees, officers, contractors or other persons and shall defend them against any loss, claim, demands, costs, damages, judgments, expenses or liability arising out of or in connection with any or all claims whether or not groundless, that may be brought against the Awards Panel by any third party in connection with participation in or winning the Award. All costs of participation in the Awards are to be borne by applicants unless specifically conveyed in writing to the applicant.

Note : The current form is very basic for initial application with intention to make societies aware about the impact of such initiatives on overall nation. The forms eventually shall get aligned with the local policies and its benefits to the society, so that there is win-win situation for government to make policies most suited to people and at the same time people are aware about how to exercise the benefits out of those policies.

OHSSAI INNOVATIVE HS AWARD (Form 6)


Briefly submit a detailed report on innovative idea that has been implemented by your housing society towards improvement of the 5S elements (i.e. Fire & Safety, Security, Serviceability, Sociability and Sustainability) and furnish objective evidences to support your submission along with the benefit derived from the initiatives. In case you wish to submit more than one innovative initiatives, you are allowed to do that, if you think that such initiatives shall also help other housing societies to further improve.

Please note that you may be invited by the housing societies who are willing to execute the similar initiatives in their premises and you agree to extend the advisory support to such housing societies, as our social responsibility and a contribution to the nation at large.
